Teaching Reading in Y3, Y4, & Y5

Are you passionate about inspiring young readers? Do you want to strengthen your subject knowledge and discover new ways to engage your pupils in reading? Then our half-day reading course for Year 3, 4, & 5 teachers is perfect for you!

Course Aims:

• Enhance your subject knowledge: Deepen your understanding of effective reading instruction.
• Encourage enthusiastic and active readers: Learn how to foster a love of reading in your pupils and explore practical strategies to encourage active readers.

What You'll Learn:

• Practical strategies: Identify a range of engaging methods to help Year 3, 4 & 5 pupils make sense of texts. These will include techniques such as fluency, visualisation and think-alouds.
• Vocabulary teaching: Explore effective strategies to expand your pupils' vocabulary.
• How to strengthen pupils’ research skills: Develop strategies to support effective research when using non-fiction texts and minimise ‘copy and paste’!
