Purchase of five new benches in Dartmouth Park

Friends of Dartmouth Park are an established organisation that was formed in 2008 to support Sandwell MBC in the restoration of Dartmouth Park.

CIL funding was approved to purchase five new park benches in Dartmouth Park.

The aim of the Project is to attract local people back into Dartmouth Park to meet up and sit on the benches to look at the views of Dartmouth Park. This Project will reduce social isolation and contribute to People’s health and wellbeing.

Litter Watch

Sandwell Learn to Grown

Litter Watch is an organization which aims to improve the local environment through practical regeneration and educational activities for local people across Sandwell.

The Caroline Street Community Gardens has a range of volunteer opportunities.

Litter watch have received CIL funding to repair two wooden cabins situated at the Caroline Street Community Gardens. The two cabins were both in urgent need of remedial works such as new flooring and doors.

The two cabins have now been refloored and repaired meaning that the organization and other communities, Schools, users have a safe space to work and rest.

The West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre

West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre - Shutters

The West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre is an established organisation that is based in Thomas Street, West Bromwich Town. The organisation works to benefit African Caribbean communities and aims to offer life chances to older people in West Bromwich.

CIL funding has been received to supply and fit new external shutters to the building. This is a council owned building that is leased to the African Caribbean Resource Centre,

The funding awarded for this was for the one-off supply and fitting of external shutters to external windows to the building, following a number of burglaries to the Resource Centre in recent years.
.The group were awarded CIL funding of £3,500.00

West Bromwich Dartmouth Cricket Club (and Bowling Club)

West Bromwich Dartmouth Cricket Club (and Bowling Club) Pathway repairs 

CIL funding has been approved for West Bromwich Dartmouth Cricket (and Bowling) Club to replace the pathway that enables access by spectators to the Bowling Club and Cricket Grounds.

The perimeter of the ground is a safe area for walking as there is a hand rail all the way round for safety of the older people.

Following completion of the path improvement works. This will enable access by wheelchair users as well as visually disabled people who want to attend club events and safely use the grounds. The path once completed would be open to all members of the local community as well as club members.

4 Community Trust 

Community Centre Floor Refurb

4 Community Trust are based in Sandwell who work with local residents and children to create opportunities for support and development. 

4 Community Trust will be taking over the former SAPA (Sandwell Adventure Play Association) building in Wiltshire Way, West Bromwich. This building has fallen out of use but will be a good asset for Sandwell (particularly West Bromwich) and its residents. 

4 Community Trust have received CIL funding to renew the flooring to the kitchen, main hall and office areas of this new facility making the building safer and more welcoming for users. 

The new space will also be available for use by other community-based organisations who are looking for a facility to provide their activities from.  

The group were awarded CIL funding of £4,200.00.

291 Community Trust Association

Screening People Together

291 Community Association (CIO) is a well-established organisation that provides facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupation in the interests of social welfare for the Sandwell Borough residents, mainly in West Bromwich.

291 Community Association (CIO) has received CIL funding to purchase ICT equipment to help stream activities on Zoom for their members to reduce isolation and loneliness.
The CIL funding will enable 291 Community Association (CIO) to purchase a Webcam, audio mixer, camcorder, microphone and laptop. 

291 Community Association (CIO) are also supplying tablets / training to members who are unable to access the Zoom calls themselves for a period of six months which will also support their digital skills.

Greets Green Community Enterprise 

Outside Learning Space 

Greets Green Community Enterprise is an organization that is set up to provide facilities to enable the community to come together for a wide range of leisure and educational activities. 

Greets Green Community Enterprise applied for CIL funding for their outside learning space and plan to purchase different types of trees, soil and blackboard paint for this area.

The aim of the project is to improve the outside learning space to make it more user friendly, improving the environment and to make the space a positive place where children can engage with nature and take part in outside learning. 

The group were awarded CIL funding of £1,144.32

Hallam Street Community Project

Kitchen improvements project 

Hallam Street Community Project is a Community led Organisation providing community and social activities (i.e. luncheon and fitness clubs, disability groups, cancer choir, etc.) which are of benefit to the community. 

Hallam Street Community has received CIL funding for a new cook master double oven and kitchen vent, two bins and various products to help keep participants safe i.e. masks, hand sanitiser and disposable gloves etc.

The aim of the Project is seeking to improve the cooking facilities for the organisation by attracting new participants and user groups to visit the Organisation.

West Bromwich BID CIC

Town Link Radio Upgrade

West Bromwich Town Business Improvement District was established in 2015 following a vote from businesses in West Bromwich Town. 

The BID covers 576 businesses within the BID area, including Carters Green, High Street, 4 Shopping Centres and surrounding areas.

The West Bromwich BID was established to improve the town by keeping it clean and tidy, hold events and hire Town Ambassadors to ensure businesses and residents feel safe and any issues are reported to the appropriate services. 

The BID also manages a Town Radio Link scheme in partnership with various partners.

The Radio Link is an integral part of the town communication and shares real time information and knowledge from suspicious behaviour, shoplifting and anti-social behaviour.

The West Bromwich BID has received CIL funding to upgrade the existing Town Radio link system, Including a software update, purchase of new batteries for existing radios and the physical upgrade of radios for the shopping centre security managers and other partners.

The group have received £4,175.05 CIL funding.

Confederation of Bangladeshi Organisations

Greets Green Resource Centre – New Tables 

Confederation of Bangladeshi Organisations started in 1985. They have an open-door policy which encourages Sandwell residents to get involved in a wide range of activities, all free of charge.

Confederation of Bangladeshi Organisations has successfully received CIL funding for 6 mobile folding tables.

The aim of the project is to be able to put on more sessions each week, by having more flexibility and capacity in the Greets Green Resource Centre. They are looking to welcome new members to become a part of Confederation of Bangladeshi Organisations and get involved in the free activities the Centre has to offer.

Charlemont Dramatics Society (CADS)

Replacement of Stage Lighting 

CADS started their organisation back in 1947. The vision was to get a group of people together to perform for the Community. CADS currently put on 2-3 performances a year at the Gayton Road Community Centre in West Bromwich. These performances are for up to 140 people in the local community.

CADS has received CIL funding for help towards a new lighting system as the one currently used is outdated and irreparable. 

The new LED lighting system will be more efficient and environmentally friendly and help with allowing CADS to continue putting on performances for the local community.

Information At Your Fingertips 

Sandwell Visually Impaired CIO is a well-respected organisation which provide support for people who live with sight loss in the Sandwell Borough. 

The organisation does this by putting on; one to one, group face to face or telephone support sessions.

The aim for the organisation is to help their members become more independent by using specialised keyboards and laptops which enable their members to learn new ICT skills.

Sandwell Visually Impaired CIO has been successful in receiving CIL funding for items such as laptops, laptop cases, special big letter keyboards and Bluetooth microphone headsets.

Yew Tree and Tame Bridge Community Centre

Yew Tree and Tame Bridge Kitchen Update 

Yew Tree and Tame Bridge Community Centre is a voluntary led organisation formed in 2011, based in West Bromwich.

The Community Centre is open Monday-Saturdays 9am-11pm. There are lots of different activities and events provided for the community to attend along with a Hall that can be hired out.

The organisation has been successful in receiving CIL funding to help towards a complete kitchen refurbishment. This has enabled them to replace the 30-year old, outdated kitchen which was no longer usable.

The CIL funding helped the organisation re-new the flooring in the kitchen, purchase kitchen units and counter tops and materials towards the project.

The new facilities will help with attracting new community groups such as lunch clubs and cooking classes.

Midland Langar Seva Society

Sandwell Outreach Programme - MLSS

Midland Langar Seva Society is a registered charity that help feed the community in West Bromwich, Monday-Sunday 6:00pm-7:00pm by handing out hot meals and food parcels. This is mainly for people who are homeless, have mental health issues or are less fortunate.

The organisation is serving around 80 people per day and the demand is rising.

Midland Langar Seva have been successful receiving CIL funding for 7 tables, a gazebo, barriers and cooking equipment.

These items will help the organisation keep up with the demand from the community and improve speed of service.

Hamstead Over 60’s Club

Hamstead Over 60’s Club – More activities

Hamstead Over 60’s Club is a small community organisation based at Tanhouse Community Centre, West Bromwich.

The members meet every Tuesday from 1pm-3pm. The purpose for the group is to help with people’s mental health and stop members from feeling isolated and lonely.

There are around 39 members who attend weekly and enjoy light refreshments and play bingo.

Hamstead Over 60’s Club have been successful in receiving funding for a range of games, a coffee machine, karaoke machine and some cake stands. The items has helped the group to provide a wide range of activities, which was identified via a consultation process with members.

These items have enabled the organisation to continue running with a variety of different activities for the members to enjoy.

EWA

Foodbank Provision: Tea and Coat Sandwell (#TAC) 

European’s Welfare Association CIC was formed in June 2013 and is based in West Bromwich. They provide services such as advice and guidance in matters related to housing, health, education, employment, welfare benefits and immigration and signpost/refer to other services.

EWA services run from Monday to Friday 9am-4:30pm. The organisation identified a demand for a food bank through their support with vulnerable residents. 

EWA have therefore opened a food pantry, based at the YMCA building in West Bromwich, which is open weekly, Thursdays 9am-3pm.

EWA have been successful receiving funding for shelving, a heavy-duty trolley, scales, and storage boxes/crates which has helped them to create the food bank at the YMCA building.

The aim is to provide a food bank to help some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

Lodge Community Centre

Lodge Community Centre Refurb

Lodge Community Centre is a community organisation based in West Bromwich. They offer services to a very diverse community such as youth clubs, karate, boxing and ESOL classes.

There are around 350 people who attend weekly and take part in the activities. The organisation is refurbishing the centre, with new flooring in its community rooms and other areas.

Lodge Community Centre has been successful in receiving CIL funding for new chairs and tables, as their previous facilities were broken and dangerous.

These items will enable the organisation to continue to serve their current users and to also attract new members.

Friends of Bromwich Hall Museum

Friends of Bromwich Hall Improving visitor Amenities 

Friends of Bromwich Hall Museum was formed in 2010 by volunteers to promote the Museum, raise money and help the staff organise events throughout the year. 

The Friends of Bromwich Hall Museum are always looking at ways to improve the site and encourage new visitors. The organisation consulted with the public and it was identified that outdoor tables, chairs, children’s games, and a coffee machine were needed.

The organisation has been successful in receiving CIL funding, which will allow them to purchase these items. This will encourage increased numbers of visitors to the museum, who can benefit from having a place to sit on the outside patio area and to enjoy light refreshments whilst watching their children play.

West Bromwich Baptist Church 

West Bromwich Baptist Church Parent and Toddlers

West Bromwich Baptist Church has been around for 220 years, the aim is to bring people together and meet the needs of the estate.

Due to requests from the community West Bromwich Baptist Church has recently re-started a Parent and Toddler group which is running every Friday in term time 9:30am-11:30am at West Bromwich Baptist Church.

The organisation has been successful in receiving CIL funding for some new children’s toys and play equipment as the group had a very limited selection of toys and equipment.

As part of the parent and toddler class there will be a sensory/safe place corner for children who may have autism, ADHD or traits of these needs.

Purchasing these items has enabled the children to benefit from having a safe environment to learn new skills and play with the equipment. West Bromwich Baptist Church has also been able to provide facilities for children with additional needs.

Dream Live Achieve Academy CIC

Dream Live Achieve Academy CIC has been around since 2018 and became a CIC in 2021. The purpose is to provide a safe space for young people in the community to be creative, express themselves and to keep away from street crime etc.

Dream Live Achieve Academy CIC hold dance classes every week at George Salter Academy and have around 25 young people attend. The group have extended their activities to include showcasing their work by producing visual multimedia presentations. This has allowed them to highlight issues they have as young people within the black community.

The organisation has been successful in receiving CIL funding to purchase an iPad, microphones, audio interface and SD card.

This equipment enabled the organisation to record monthly podcasts and produce dance/music videos via additional sessions.

The purchasing of these items has meant that existing and new young people have benefited from having a safe environment to learn new skills such as filming, recording podcasts and dancing.

The group were awarded CIL funding of £947.73
