Co-producing Sandwell's Carers Service

Sandwell Carers, The Director of Adult Social Care and local carers at the launch event

Sandwell’s new Carers Service officially launched on 1 September 2025, following a year of consultation, engagement and co‑production with unpaid carers from across the borough.

Unpaid carers played a central role in shaping the service from the very beginning. Over 150 carers shared their experiences and priorities through a borough‑wide survey, alongside a series of focus groups held across Sandwell. Carers were also directly involved in developing the service specification, helping to define what good support should look like and what really matters to carers locally.

This co‑produced approach has ensured the service reflects the lived experiences of carers and responds to their needs in a meaningful and practical way.

Sandwell Carers is designed to be the first point of contact for unpaid carers in the borough, offering the right support at the right time. Support is flexible and tailored, with different levels available depending on individual circumstances.

Sandwell Carer’s Service provides help with financial and practical support, emergency and future planning, maintaining health and wellbeing amongst other things and is available through online support, groups and activities and one to one support.
