Co-producing a digital solution for Carers
As part of our drive to improve support and accessible resources for carers in Sandwell, we’re exploring digital solutions that provide information, guidance, advice and support at times when standard services are not available.
Bridgit Care – an online platform designed to offer localised content tailored to the needs of carers 24 hours a day 7 days a week has recently become available to unpaid carers across Sandwell.
We want to grow services that make person-centred care a reality, supporting unpaid carers to live healthy and fulfilling lives alongside their caring role and respond to rising demand and the changing needs of local populations. It is vital that we work with carers every step of the way: from co-designing our new Carers Support Service through to refining the user experience when it comes to Bridgit.
We worked with unpaid carers from across Sandwell to refine the Bridgit website and implement changes that were tailored to Sandwell Carers specifically. Voice recognition was implemented so carers can ask questions rather than typing if they prefer, a community page was added as carers expressed, they would like to connect with other carers across Sandwell and the language was changed to be simpler amongst other things as part of what the carers said would make the website fit for purpose.
