Covid-19 Testing

There are several options for getting tested for Covid-19 in Sandwell

  • You MUST get a PCR test if you have Covid-19 symptoms (a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a change to your sense of taste or smell)

  • You CAN CHOOSE to get a test as a precaution if you have the following other symptoms:

    • headaches
    • aches and pains
    • feeling very tired for no good reason
    • sore throat
    • runny nose
    • sneezing
    • tummy ache in children.
If you are booking a test as a precaution select the following option on the Covid-19 test booking formMy local council or health protection team has asked me (or someone I live with) to get a test, even though I do not have symptoms. If you have any of these other symptoms you do not need to isolate unless you have a positive test result.
  • You can collect free rapid tests to use at home from a number of pharmacies. Before collecting your tests you will need to register online for a code or call 119. You can then take your code to the pharmacy and take your test kits away. or Rapid home testing kits are for people aged 18 or over who do not have symptoms to use twice a week. Find your local pharmacy where you can pick up home tests
  • Important: if you have symptoms you MUST book a test for symptomatic people. You must not book a rapid test.
