Covid-19 Testing

There are several options for getting tested for Covid-19 in Sandwell

  • You MUST get a PCR test if you have Covid-19 symptoms (a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a change to your sense of taste or smell)

  • You CAN CHOOSE to get a test as a precaution if you have the following other symptoms:

    • headaches
    • aches and pains
    • feeling very tired for no good reason
    • sore throat
    • runny nose
    • sneezing
    • tummy ache in children.
If you are booking a test as a precaution select the following option on the Covid-19 test booking formMy local council or health protection team has asked me (or someone I live with) to get a test, even though I do not have symptoms. If you have any of these other symptoms you do not need to isolate unless you have a positive test result.
  • You can get free rapid test kits to use at home twice a week from many pharmacies. Rapid home testing kits are for people aged 18 or over who do not have symptoms to use twice a week. Find your local pharmacy where you can pick up home tests
  • Important: if you have symptoms you MUST book a test for symptomatic people. You must not book a rapid test.
