Summary of services | Empowerment and support is provided at the charity`s centre in Harborne, Birmingham. Day care is also provided and people can get involved in the charity`s projects Being Heard is a music and work based project which aims to support people in learning the theory of music and how to compose and arrange music pieces. Our music group also gains vocal and instrument tuition. Our musicians and singers gain fulfilment by being active performers and by performing music shows at local venues. The group has also networked with the Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre Trust, and will be working with them on their ?Arts Champions? project. The project is facilitated by an experienced music teacher VeraNicArt is a visual arts and work based project (VeraNic - meaning ?True Image?), which aims to support people to show off aspects of their lives through the medium of art, as well as imaginative and themed artworks and crafts. The group gain study in all aspects of art and can be considered practicing artists. We have recently had an arts and history exhibition in the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, titled Empowered, in which our artists have contributed all the works on display. The project is led by a qualified art tutor LIFESkills (LIFE standing for Learning Independence for Everyone) is an educational project to develop the skills necessary for daily life. This includes money management, awareness of services in the community, personal hygiene and other skills. Regular activities of the project include cooking, literacy, numeracy, health, wellbeing and accessing the community URconnectABLE is an informed advocacy and advice service for people with cerebral palsy, other disabilities, plus their families and carers. We promote self-advocacy, but where people are not able to represent themselves, we can act on their behalf. We provide help with housing, emotional support, help with financial matters, benefit claims, representation at tribunals and help with simplifying a bureaucratic system that surrounds legislation regarding disability |
