Outreach Service - initial home visits for people with Dementia and their family carers after the referral is received, in order to carry out an assessment of need for both the person with Dementia and their carers.
Befriending Service - this service offers weekly visits to people with Dementia in their own homes. Visits are carried out by volunteers and last an average on two hours. The service can help to provide support, to increase mental stimulation, and to reduce feelings of isolation. It can also offer family carers a break from the caring role.
Carer Support Service - this service offers information and emotional support to family carers of people with Dementia. This is provided by both one-to-one and group sessions.
Dementia Awareness Training - training for professionals who work with people with Dementia.
Volunteering opportunities - new volunteers are always welcome. The service is looking for people with a caring nature, good communication skills. a sense of humour, and the desire to make a difference. We welcome individuals with either previous experience or transferable skills from other areas of life. Volunteers will receive training and supervision and will be required to provide references. Volunteer Befrienders will be required to undergo a DBS check.
