Plan for Neighbourhoods Programme

On 4 March 2025, Smethwick was named as one of 75 towns across the UK to receive up to £20 million of Government investment over the next 10 years, through the Plan for Neighbourhoods programme.

The programme will focus on three stategic objectives, designed to create lasting positive change in communities across Smethwick and beyond:

  • Thriving Places
  • Stronger Neighbourhoods
  • Taking Back Control

To access the funding, the towns are required to develop a 10-year Regeneration Plan and 4-year investment plan. These plans will focus on the themes set by Govenrment, which reflect the things many of us already care about:

  • Regeneration, High Streets and Heritage
  • Housing
  • Works, Productivity and Skills
  • Cohesion
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Transport
  • Safety and Security
  • Education and Opportunity
