Connexions Sandwell is promoting a wide range of careers information, advice and guidance to mark this year’s National Careers Week (NCW).

Look out for a series of posts on social media accounts throughout the week and events coming up this month.

NCW is for careers staff working in schools and providers helping Year 11 students as they get ready to leave school. The one-week celebration of careers guidance across the UK runs from Monday 6 March until Saturday 11 March. Councillor Simon Hackett, Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Education, is visiting a variety of Sandwell schools and Training Providers throughout the week, where Connexions Sandwell Careers Advisers work and give advice and guidance, to discover how careers advice and guidance has helped young people on their journey and empowered them with information about their next steps. The first event took place at Phoenix Collegiate on Monday 6 March.

Connexions Sandwell is committed to providing young people with high quality, independent support. We make them aware of all their options to enable them to take up employment, an apprenticeship or further learning and training opportunities to fulfil their potential. They give impartial information, advice and guidance that helps young people to make informed decisions about their future and can help young people find suitable education, training or employment including apprenticeships.

Connexions Sandwell holds careers events throughout the year and also has a duty Careers Adviser available to help and advise on 0121 569 2955 or you can fill in an enquiry form on the website.

Councillor Simon Hackett, Cabinet Member for Children and Education, said:

“National Careers Week is about celebrating the great work that Connexions staff, who are our careers service within Sandwell Council do. They along with careers leads in schools give young people the best start to their working lives. I have been talking to young people about their future career choices and the fantastic work and difference that careers advisors like our own Connexions service have made."
