Free school meal vouchers for half-term and Easter school holidays

Free school meal vouchers will again be distributed to eligible families in Sandwell for February half-term.
Sandwell Council has also committed to provide vouchers for the two-week school holiday at Easter starting Friday 31 March.
Parents and carers of Sandwell school children will be contacted through their child's school and will receive vouchers to go towards the cost of food for the break. Vouchers for the Easter school holiday will be distributed in the last week in March.
Councillor Simon Hackett, Cabinet Member for Children and Education said: "It's important we continue to help families during the school holidays with these vouchers and I encourage all those families who are eligible to take up this offer.
"Times are very difficult financially and we hope these vouchers will help parents and carers towards food costs during the holiday. I am pleased we are able to continue to offer these vouchers to eligible families for the Easter school holiday too.”
Eligible families will receive a voucher for £15 per child for week long half-term break which starts on Friday 17 February. This will help around 20,000 children.
Councillor Kerrie Carmichael, Leader of Sandwell Council, added: "We feel it's right to issue these vouchers again to make things a little easier for Sandwell families to help with the cost of a meal.
"Since October, we have invested £1.8m from our Household Support Fund for vouchers for eligible families during the school holidays. These vouchers will help families with the additional costs of living in our community.”
