Supporting Sandwell people into work – New Year, New Job

Published 11th January 2023

New Year New job - careers events coming up

Sandwell Council supports residents into new jobs throughout the year, but at this time of year many more people may be looking to change. Sandwell is here to help.

In addition to the day-to-day support our teams offer, there are also tailored events available in early 2023.

Sandwell Council is holding a Work in Adult Social Care event on Friday 3 February from 10am – 3pm at Sandwell Council House, Oldbury.

Anyone can register to attend and find out about various positions available across Adult Social Care including posts in our commissioning, learning disabilities and reablement teams, as well as other services. We need people to join our Adult Social Care teams to support our residents to live healthy and independent lives. We have opportunities available to suit different skill sets and preferences – from office based posts to support roles out in the community.

People can register online for the event at Eventbrite.

Alternatively, just turn up on the day and you will be welcomed into the session.

At Careers in Sandwell you can discover what jobs and apprenticeships are available locally, plus the support available to get into employment, education or training. The event will take place on Tuesday 7 February between 2pm and 5.30pm in the Chamber at Sandwell Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury (B69 3DB sat nav). Booking via Eventbrite is recommended.

There are council teams that can help people into work or to change their career throughout the year.

The Leader of Sandwell Council, Councillor Kerrie Carmichael, said: “We want everyone to be able to work towards a career they love and where they feel appreciated.

“Helping people to find employment, education and training is one of the really important ways the council is able to support residents. Attending one of our upcoming events or contacting one of our teams may be that first important step for many people who are looking for a change in career, a new job or a new training opportunity.”

The Think Sandwell Employment and Skills team supports people of all ages to find employment and training.

Whether you are looking to start your career, return to the workplace after a break, get a new job or apprenticeship or change career or find work after being made redundant, Think
