By-election in Wednesbury South ward on 27 October
Published 22nd September 2022
A by-election will be held in the Wednesbury South ward of Sandwell on Thursday 27 October 2022.
The by-election follows a former councillor stepping down which has left one of the ward’s three seats vacant.
Polling cards will be delivered to voters in the Wednesbury South ward from Monday 26 September.
Six polling stations will be used for the vote.
Nominations for candidates must be made to the council by 4pm on Friday 30 September.
Anyone in the Wednesbury South ward who isn’t registered to vote needs to register by midnight on Tuesday 11 October – register to vote.
For those that already have a postal vote in places, postal votes will be sent out from Monday 10 October and must be returned by 10pm on Thursday 27 October. If you would like to vote by post and you have not previously applied, applications must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 12 October.
Note: One of Wednesbury South ward’s three seats has become vacant following former councillor Kirat Singh resigning in August this year from the seat he won as a Labour candidate in May 2021. The council has been advised that Mr Singh has secured a new job that is politically restricted (which meant he could not continue as a councillor).
