Free energy visits for Sandwell residents
Published 6th March 2019
Sandwell Council is backing a scheme to help local residents save money and energy in their homes.
The Local Energy Advice Partnership (LEAP) offers residents a free home visit from a trained energy advisor who offers advice and support on how to make their home as energy efficient as possible.
During the home visit, the advisor can check people are on the best energy tariff, provide energy saving tips and help identify funding for further energy-saving improvements.
They can also make on the spot improvements by fitting simple energy saving measures such as draught proofing and LED light bulbs and arrange a free money advice consultation.
The scheme is open to anyone who has a low income, receives tax credits, Housing Benefit, an income or disability-related benefit or has a long-term illness or disability.
Sandwell’s cabinet member for housing, Councillor Kerrie Carmichael, said: “We’ve teamed up with LEAP to try and help residents save money and help people live in warmer, healthier homes.
"It doesn't matter if you are in a council or housing association property, rent privately or own your own home. if you are eligible, I would urge you to apply to the scheme, you don't have anything to lose."
To book an appointment, residents can call a freephone number 0800 060 7567 to book their free home visit or apply online
