Car boot sales

Sandwell Council classifies car boot sales as markets, under common law, and regulates them by exercising its Market Rights.

If you wish to operate a car boot sale, within the Borough of Sandwell, then you must first obtain Council permission.

Permission will not necessarily be granted automatically, but will be assessed in relation to other markets operating within the vicinity of any proposed car boot sales. However, car boot sales soley for the purpose of raising funds for charitable causes, school funds and community projects, and with no private commercial gain, will be assessed under a different criteria.

For application forms and requirements for charitable and commercial car boot sales please fill in the attached forms and return to the Markets Manager.
