Tibbington Racing Pigeon Club

Tibbington Pigeon Racing

Tibbington Racing Pigeon Club was established in 1997 and participates in pigeon races. The group has members ranging from 6 years to 80 years old and is a family sport that brings fun and enjoyment to its members.

In recent years as technology has advanced, bird flying technology with new electronic flight tracking systems are now available. This gives those able to afford the technology an advantage in competitions.

The Tibbington Racing Pigeon Club have received funding to purchase eight new flight monitoring systems which will be loaned to its members in order to log their bird flights to participate in competitions.

The group were awarded CIL funding of £1,992.00

Time Step Dance

Making Music with Time Step Dance

Time Step Dance have received CIL funding to support their Making Music with Time Step Dance project. Time Step will be able to purchase various instruments allowing them to start up a small music group.

This new group will enable children to learn the basics of music (reading music, learning notes, and putting tunes together, timing and rhythm etc) and formation of a mini orchestra.

The Time Step Dance Group are aiming to attract around 20-30 young people initially to participate in the Project.

The group were awarded CIL funding of £918.09

William Perry Amateur Boxing Club

William Perry Amateur Boxing Club training equipment

William Perry Amateur Boxing Club has been founded since 1997 and has been based in Tipton since 2013. The club has 26 beginners (11years+) and 30 members, 5 qualified trainers. (ABC level 1 and above).

The club has received CIL funding for new boxing equipment due to the renovation of their back room. The previous boxing equipment was in a poor condition and required replacement.

The CIL funding has enabled the Boxing Club to purchase new boxing equipment allowing William Perry ABC to increase the number of children in the club and hold more events and sessions following COVID-19.

The new boxing equipment will also allow William Perry ABC to increase their member numbers and will open up on Tuesday sessions (once Government COVID-19 guidelines allow).

The group were awarded CIL funding of £3,317.98.

Life in Community CIC (LIC)

Life in Community CIC Life works project

Life in Community CIC (LIC) is a Community Interest Community, based in Tipton, was established in November 2019 and seeks to support local residents across the town, specifically the ward of Princes End.

They have offered support in addressing issues surrounding health, poverty, worklessness and apathy, learning and skills deficiencies.

As well as their Lifeline Listening, Lifeline Shopping and Lifeline Counselling services the funding received has allowed them to deliver their new Life Works service which addresses some of the needs of residents across Tipton for employment support.

The funding awarded has allowed the organisation to purchase equipment such as Kindle tablets, Computers and software, tables and desks and room dividers to allow more people to use the service in a safer environment following COVID-19.

The group were awarded CIL funding of £4,309.99

The Friends of Sheepwash Nature Reserve

Down The River Project

Sheepwash is one of the largest nature reserves in the Sandwell Borough and is on land previously used as a tip which has since been landscaped. The Sheepwash is home to a number of pools, with the River Tame running through the site. The Friends of Sheepwash Nature Reserve was set up in 1997 to involve the community to protect habitats, to provide environmental education and to rescue animals.

The Friends of Sheepwash Nature Reserve have received CIL funding to purchase animal rescue and environmental protection equipment for use at the Nature Reserve.

The grant is allowing the group to purchase up to date equipment to enable staff and volunteers to rescue animals with as little distress as possible to the animal. Other equipment will help staff and volunteers deal with contamination as well as removing debris and litter from the site. This will ensure the Sheepwash stays clean, tidy and will help maintain the biodiversity of the site.

The group were awarded CIL funding of £2,618.12

Awesome Performing Arts

Sandwell’s first Mobile Theatre

Awesome Performing Arts have received CIL funding to purchase equipment and materials to create a mobile theatre.

The stage and equipment purchased will be used to support productions and may be borrowed by other groups. The staging equipment would allow Awesome Performing Arts to put on at least 6 shows per year (2 for choir, 3 for junior awesome, one concert and 2 small performances/plays and 1 for the main drama group). Awesome Performing Arts plan to participate in outdoor shows at local events also.

Each show would have around 20-30 people participating and an audience of between 50 and 75 approximately. The equipment and staging will also enable Awesome Performing Arts to train some of their 11+ students on the technical aspects of setting up a theatre stage and help support the Group in working more widely in the local community.

The group were awarded CIL funding of £1,789.00.

The Great Bridge Community Forum

Farley Amateur Boxing Gym

The Great Bridge Community Forum have been established since 1996. They provide many services including: After School Club, Holiday Play Schemes, Extend exercise group, Advanced Extend exercise group, bingo, social gathering clubs and walking groups to name a few.

The Great Bridge Community Forum have received CIL funding to purchase boxing equipment for their Farley Amateur Boxing Gym project.

The project aims to give young people the opportunity to engage in a fitness/health project using boxing as a way to gain new skills and improve their physical health.

The sessions will be based at Farley Community Centre with 4 sessions per week with different age ranges at a cost of £3 per session.

The group were awarded CIL funding of £3,067.68

Sandwell Advocacy

Connecting Communities

Sandwell Advocacy is a registered charity based in Tipton who have been providing independent advocacy throughout Sandwell since 1993. The group support vulnerable individuals who feel that their needs, rights and wishes have not been taken into account when planning and delivering health and social care services.

They have received CIL funding to improve the community space in their building to help them develop their befriending service. The funding has allowed them to purchase equipment for this space such as desks, tables, chairs, interactive screens, signage etc.

This will allow the group to offer more support, training and enhance the projects they deliver, especially the recruitment of more volunteers who would utilise the additional area.

The Group were awarded CIL funding of £2,738.58.

Golden Opportunities

ITC

Golden Opportunities is a Social Group for the residents of the Boscobel Estate in Tipton. The aim of the group is to help develop and encourage social and educational aspects for the estate members. They have organised quiz nights, bingo sessions, history talks, as well as holding social events.

They have received CIL funding to purchase IT equipment such as a laptop, tablets, digital camera, printer etc.

The members will be able to benefit through the training and support the group offer, as well as being able to borrow some of the equipment to develop their skills further.

The Group were awarded CIL funding of £2,939.67.

St Matthews Church

Mini Matts

St Matthews Church is a voluntary led organisation, based in Tipton. There are lots of different activities and events provided for the community to attend throughout the week.

The organisation has been successful in receiving CIL funding to help towards starting up a new Stay & Play Group called Mini Matts. This has an educational and support theme, for 0-4-year olds and takes place each Monday and Friday.

The CIL funding helped the organisation with resources such as chairs, classroom tables, a baby playpen, play centre, soft play shapes equipment for climbing etc.

The new equipment will enable them to deliver low cost stay and play sessions for local parents and their children.

The Group were awarded CIL funding of £2,354.93.

Toll End Over 50s

Thursday Afternoon Club

Toll End Over 50s is an inclusive group that began in November 2011. The group meets on Thursday afternoons and they provide a range of events such as bingo, birthday parties, entertainment and charity coffee days.

The CIL funding has helped the group purchase catering items, a microphone and a table for the Thursday afternoon club.

The new equipment will improve the provision of hot drinks and snacks that the group offers, as well as helping them with their entertainment facilities. Other groups will also benefit from these facilities.
