Combined Authority

We have a clear vision of where we want Sandwell to be in 2030.

As a major player in the Combined Authority, Sandwell will be at the heart of boosting business, improving lives and transforming the region’s landscape.

Sandwell is home to more than 300,000 people and around 9,000 businesses.

Devolution will bring many opportunities to Sandwell – not just for businesses and industry, but also for our residents.

Sandwell has a strong reputation for development – for example, the regeneration of West Bromwich town centre and the £353 million Midland Metropolitan Hospital being built in Smethwick.

Sandwell is perfectly placed, linking Birmingham and the wider region to the rest of the Black Country.

We have land available to build new homes and businesses, and we have people to fill new jobs across the West Midlands.

We have highly-successful companies boosting the local economy and ready to join the supply chain for major new regional and national projects.

However, Sandwell still has high deprivation levels and we need to break the cycle of disadvantage from one generation to the next.

We need the support of the Combined Authority to make sure Sandwell gets its share of investment and the wider benefits of devolution.
