Draft Statement of Community Involvement - Consultation Document - 2022
The consultation on the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) 2022 will run for a period of six weeks, which begins on Monday 9 May and ends on Sunday 19 June 2022 at 5pm.
What is the Statement of Community Involvement?
The purpose of a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) is to explain how we will involve local communities at each stage of the planning process. Creating and publishing an SCI is a legal requirement for all planning authorities.
Why do we need the SCI?
We recognise that planning affects people’s daily lives, as the decisions we make shape the places we live and work in. As a result, we want to involve communities as early in the process as possible.
How the SCI works
The SCI is relevant to anyone who lives, works, or does business in Sandwell. It sets out when, how, and for what reasons you can participate in planning processes or issues.
How to take part in the consultation
Please submit your views to us in one of the following ways:
• Submit a comment form by email to us - request a comment form by emailing ldf_planning@sandwell.gov.uk and return it to this email address.
• Submit a comment form by writing to us at Sandwell Council, Regeneration & Economy, Sandwell Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury, B69 3DE.
If you want a printed copy of the SCI document and survey, or if you need it in in any other format, please email ldf_planning@sandwell.gov.uk, or call 0121 569 4054 or 569 4055.
What happens next
We will review all responses to the consultation and update the SCI as appropriate. We will then submit a report to the Council's Cabinet for formal adoption in early autumn 2022.
