Wednesbury Regeneration
Introduction
Wednesbury is set to undergo significant regeneration with transport, town centre and residential developments.
Wednesbury will benefit from improvements to its transport and connectivity, with the Midlands Metro extension from Wednesbury to Brierley Hill underway. Also within the town centre, if successful with scheme programme design, Wednesbury will see a heritage regeneration project to deliver improvements to shop fronts, public realm and delivery of a social and cultural programme of activities for the area. Alongside this, there is the development of residential sites within Friar Park; following the completion of Carisbrooke Crescent housing site in June 2019, 2020 sees the initial developments of the Carrington Road area and plans for 750 new homes on Friar Park Road.
The regeneration of Wednesbury will see:
- New, modern affordable housing
- Improved transport links and connectivity
- Increased local retail provision
