Work Experience and Volunteering
Employee volunteering scheme
The Employee Volunteering scheme, known as Sandwell Exchange, aims to build stronger links between the Council, its employees and the community by enabling and encouraging staff to volunteer in projects within Sandwell and has been developed in partnership with the Volunteer Centre Sandwell.
Sandwell Exchange is open to all council staff. It allows them up to 18.5 hours per year to carry out volunteering activity and this time must be matched hour for hour with the employees own time. All volunteering must meet one or more of the priorities of the Council and its partners.
Examples of employee volunteering include:
-
A group of staff from the audit team spent a day digging over a very overgrown allotment for Sandwell MIND
-
A member of staff ran cricket coaching courses at 2 local primary schools
