What we offer

We can offer a range of jobs and career choices to help you develop new skills, help you decide on a career or even to try something different.

Most school placements will take place in June/July. Placements for 16-29 year olds generally take place March to June and September to December.

You will need to apply for a work experience placement using the appropriate application form. 

Sandwell Council has work experience opportunities within several areas, which are listed below.

Administration- general administration
Adults- Adult social care
Children’s (learning services)- administration and support, youth services
Cultural Services- libraries, museums
Customer Services- reception duties
Construction- building inspector, building surveyor, gas engineers, painting and decorating, general construction roles
Urban Design and Building Services- View a description of the Work Experience placements on offer from the Design team
Environmental Health, Environmental Protection, Food Safety, Trading Standards - Business regulations, environmental protection, trading standards, housing
Finance- accountancy and procurement, audit and revenues and benefits, finance administration
Health and Wellbeing- public health
Hospitality- cleaning and caretaking, catering at Sandwell Valley
Human Resources- human resources development
ICT
Legal and Governance- legal administration, committee administration, elections, registration of births/deaths/marriages, administration of funerals and memorials
Operational- vehicle maintenance, travel training, horticulture/ gardening, animal care/ farming, stores and warehousing, countryside ranger, grounds maintenance, waste services (18+), patrolling services (18+)
