Corporate parenting strategy
Members and officers of the council have responsibility for children who are looked after by the council and for care leavers, as if they were their own children. They need to be as responsible and concerned for them as any good parent would be for their own child.
This concern encompasses all areas of their lives, including:

where they live

who cares for them

what they do in their leisure time

how they celebrate their culture and achievements

and once they have left care, how they are supported to live independently in the community.
The corporate parenting strategy outlines how the council and its partners will improve the outcomes for looked after children and care leavers and ensure they have positive experiences across a range of services.
