Sixth Form

6th form

Sixth Form is where many students go after Year 11 to continue studying.

It usually lasts two years:

  • Year 12

  • Year 13

You normally study A Levels (or similar qualifications) and prepare for university, apprenticeships, or future careers.

Most students study:

  • 3 A Levels (sometimes 4 at the start)

A Levels are:

  • Academic subjects (e.g. Maths, English, Biology, History)

  • More detailed than GCSEs

  • Assessed mainly by exams at the end of Year 13

Some sixth forms also offer:

  • BTECs or applied courses

  • EPQ (Extended Project Qualification)

Sixth Form is a good option if you:

  • Enjoy academic learning

  • Want to keep multiple career options open

  • Are thinking about university

  • Prefer a familiar school setting

It gives you strong academic qualifications that are well recognised.
