Dedicated website for young people

Published 23rd July 2020

A dedicated website aimed at young people has been given an overhaul by Sandwell Council.

Young people in Sandwell are being urged to log on to www.justyouth.org.uk to find the latest activities on offer as well as useful information and advice.

The revamped website includes a new section with advice about coronavirus and the latest advice for young people.

The website, aimed at young people aged 11-19 -  (up to 25 for those with special educational needs and disability or SEND) -  also has advice about topics including staying healthy, getting active, being safe, education and learning, summer activities, skills, work experience and careers.

It also sign posts young people to opportunities to have their voice heard and to shape services.

Councillor Joyce Underhill, cabinet member for Best Start in Life urges young people to log on and find out what's new:

She said: "The revamped website has been redeveloped in-house by council staff with feedback from our young people.

"Our young people tell us they want information all in one place so this website will hopefully meet their needs.

"Although the traditional face-to-face contact with our young people is limited due to the current pandemic, we are developing new virtual ways to stay in touch and keep them informed and entertained."

Young people are also being encouraged to follow Sandwell's SHAPE Instagram to get the latest updates on campaigns, events and activities. (@Shape_Sandwell)
