The Friends group at the Oak House Museum in West Bromwich have been working to improve its gardens – with the help of tools bought with a town grant from the council.
The green-fingered members of the group were awarded a £1,580 town grant from Sandwell Council to continue its work to improve and develop the museums gardens.
Councillor Steve Melia, town chair for West Bromwich, said: “The Friends group do some excellent work at the Oak House and are enthusiastic about improving the gardens.
“The project aims to develop community involvement and inclusion to support individuals to improve their gardening skills and meet new people at weekly gardening sessions.”
The new tools have helped the volunteers to work on opening neglected walkways and clearing rose beds alongside seating areas and at the same time develop new friendships.
