Tipton Townswomen's Guild trip

Members of a Townswomen’s Guild in Sandwell who are celebrating the group's 70-year anniversary went on a special celebratory trip to a Shropshire beauty spot.

The party from Tipton Townswomen’s Guild, which is the oldest guild in the West Midlands Federation, received a grant of £975 to finance the trip to Patshull Park.

The Guild, which meets at the Methodist Centre Dudley Port, were awarded the cash by the town grants team at Sandwell Council.

Councillor Sharon Davies, town chair for Oldbury, said: “This was an interesting application by a group with a long history of working with members of the community.

“The grant enabled the Guild to organise the trip to help older people to socialise together and celebrate their anniversary.”

Guild chairperson Christine York said: “We were very grateful to receive the grant from the council and had a very nice day out at a lovely place.

“Our members were very pleased to have a trip out together to enjoy a meal and a walk around the lake.”
