An estimated 8,000 people came to SHAPE Summer Fest 2019 on Saturday (13 July) to enjoy free activities
The event organised by Sandwell Council's SHAPE Team - now in its fifth year - included performances from young singers and dancers on-stage, free sports activities, meeting animals from Sandwell's farms, craft activities and much more.
Along with Deputy leader, Councillor Syeda Khatun and Councillor Jackie Taylor Councillor Maria Crompton, cabinet member responsible for parks attended the event. She said: "It was a wonderful event and a chance for our staff and partners to showcase some of the free activities that will be on offer across Sandwell this summer.
"We have lots of free activities during the school holidays including free swimming for under 16s at all our leisure centres. There will also be lots of play sessions in our parks as part of our Go Play programme.
"Our youth buses and climbing wall will be touring around parks in Sandwell offering free activities for the older children and young people. Our libraries have a full programme for all ages and our museums also have many activities on offer.
"We have lots of activities planned for children and young people this summer. The only thing we can't plan for is the weather, but we have our fingers crossed."
