Ugly buildings demolished in West Bromwich

Sandwell’s regeneration boss today welcomed the news that two derelict empty properties on West Bromwich High Street have been demolished – to make space for a new development on the site.

The new owners of the derelict properties in Princess Parade have demolished them, removing the site of the former Spencer’s Market.

Councillor Paul Moore, cabinet member for regeneration and economic investment, said:

"I’m pleased that the new owners have taken action to demolish the buildings. These properties were not in council ownership, but they were in a state of disrepair.

"They had been left vacant for a number of years by their owners and and were blighting this part of the High Street.

"Sandwell Council will be making a further announcement on a date to demolish the multi-storey car park, which is at the end of its life span, in the spring.

"When demolished, we hope to find a development partner to bring forward a comprehensive regeneration of this part of the town centre, including the former Spencer's Market site.
