Two Sandwell construction projects won top prizes at the West Midlands Regional Building Excellence Awards for high quality housing developments.
They won prizes at the LABC West Midlands Regional Building Excellence Awards event, held at the Telford International Centre and will now go forward to the national grand final.
The Countryside Properties’ development at Doulton Rd, Rowley Regis was the winner in the ‘Best Large Housing Development’ Category.
These projects are all nominated by Sandwell Council's Building Control team.
The project will now go forward to be judged for the national ‘Grand Final’ awards, against the other regions’ winners in this category. The Grand Final event will be on Friday 9th November in London.
The other Sandwell winner was Graham Mills of Kier Partnership Homes, the site manager at the Claypit Lane, West Bromwich development, who was nominated in the ‘Best Residential Construction Professional’ category.
Graham will now be judged against the other regional winners in the national grand final.
Rob Bailey , the council’s lead Building Control Surveyor for Doulton Rd, and Calvin Bradley its Building Consultancy Manager attended the event to support the Countryside Properties team and Graham and his Kier colleagues who were delighted to receive this recognition.
Councillor Kerrie Carmichael, Sandwell's cabinet member for housing, said: "It is very pleasing that two important schemes in Sandwell gained recognition and we wish the winners well for their appearance in the grand finals.
"This was a significant result as the residential category had dozens of entries, taking in the whole West Midlands connurbation, as well as Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Shropshire."
