Exciting plans are moving forward to transform the Carrington Road and School Road areas in Friar Park, Wednesbury.

The council wants to build new council homes and provide modern new shop units to replace the existing buildings.

The exact layout and details of the scheme are still to be decided but the plans would include building bungalows on land that’s already been cleared of fly-tipping and fenced off in Friardale Close.

A new investor has also come on board to restore the social club to its former glory.

Councillor Paul Moore,  Sandwell’s cabinet member for regeneration, said: “The proposals – which are due to go the council’s Cabinet in the coming months – are aimed at  providing much-needed new homes and shops for people in Friar Park and we will be working closely with residents and business owners to make sure their views are taken on board when drawing up the proposals."
