Holocaust Memorial commemoration event in Sandwell
Published 9th January 2018
Sandwell will remember the millions of victims of genocide at a special Holocaust commemoration event in West Bromwich.
The event, to mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2018, will be held on Sunday 28 January 2018 at Highfields Memorial Gardens, off High Street, West Bromwich.
Arrive from 10.15am for a 10.30am start. Everyone is welcome.
Mayor of Sandwell Councillor Ahmadul Haque MBE said: "I invite everyone to join us at what will be a solemn observation to respect the memory of millions of victims of genocide over the years.
"We need to make sure people now and in the future remember the Holocaust and more recent atrocities. We will be thinking about those who died and also those who live with the memories."
The theme of Holocaust Memorial Day 2018 is The Power of Words.
Spoken and written words from individuals, corporations, community organisations or the state can have a huge impact. This year's theme explores how language has been used in the past and how it is used today.
