Safer 6 - Youth bus helps young stay safe
Published on 8th October 2012
The Youth Bus will be touring Sandwell again as part of the borough's Safer 6 campaign.
Stay Safe youth bus sessions will provide fun activities and work with young people, showing DVDs, discussing issues and explaining how the young people of Sandwell can keep safe during the autumn months.
The Safer 6 campaign involves a wide range of organisations in Sandwell joining forces and targeting their resources to help keep the borough safe and clean as the nights draw in and during the bonfire and fireworks season.
The Youth Bus has internet access, computers, play stations, workshops, a 'chill out' area as well as a small kitchen for the youth to use.
Sandwell Council, Sandwell Police, West Midlands Fire Service and DECCA are all involved in the scheme to ensure the best advice and information is given.
Councillor Linda Horton, Sandwell Council's cabinet member for leisure services, said: "We use the bus and youth activities all year round to build relationships with young people across the borough - and it's fantastic that the bus will be putting on extra sessions during Safer 6 as we head into the darker nights period."
