European delegates come to Sandwell

A group of European delegates will be coming to Sandwell next week to see how the borough is encouraging youngsters to get involved in science subjects.
The 10 delegates from seven countries will be coming to Sandwell from October 9-12.
They will see how Sandwell is encouraging youngsters to take up science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects and careers.
Cabinet member for children and families Councilor Bob Badham said: "I am delighted to be welcoming these delegates and showing them the policies we have in place.
"We must challenge the stereotypes and improve the career prospects of our youngsters.
My main career was in technology and engineering and I know from my own experience how vital it is to get children interested in science, technology, engineering and maths.
"It is so significant to the future that we change the current trend of just a few young people entering these areas.
"This visit is particularly important because we know that some employers and now thinking inrenationally when recruiting STEM-skilled employees. This visit is an important first step."
