Careers advice, training and policing were among the topics debated at a national conference attended by four young people from Sandwell.

The British Youth Council's (BYC) Annual Meeting attracted more than 180 delegates from 48 organisations, including Sandwell Shadow Youth Cabinet (SSYC).

Delegates debated and voted on what should be included in the BYC's manifesto for 2012-14.

SSYC Chair Wasim Ali said: "It was a valuable experience for our members to participate in the elections process and see the motion debates in action."

Sandwell Council's cabinet member for chilodren and families Councillor Bob Badham said: "Our Shadow Youth Cabinet is very active and a credit to the borough."
