Reminder to gardeners to enter annual horticultural show
Published on 14th August 2012
Gardeners across the Black Country are being reminded to get their applications in to take part in this year's horticultural show at Sandwell Valley on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Organisers of Sandwell Horticultural Show want to get as many entries from across the Black Country and the surrounding areas for the show, which attracts some of the region's top growers.
The vegetable and flower classes attract some excellent entries and Councillor Ian Jones, Sandwell Council's cabinet member for neighbourhoods, is keen to keep up the standard.
Councillor Jones said the council was extremely proud of the show which is part of the free-entry Sandwell Community Show on Sunday 26 August and Monday 27 August.
The show, which also includes classes for baking, wine, children's classes, floral art and handicraft enthusiasts.
He said: "The show has been a big success over the years and every event is enjoyed by the many thousands of people who make their way to the horticultural tent.
"The show tent is a big attraction where visitors can see the lovely displays. Last year we had some superb produce in all the classes."
Anyone interested in entering the show should call Carole Calloway on 0121 569 3440.
