Free family fun with Mr Bloom at Sandwell Valley this weekend
Published on 26th July 2012
Fancy a day of scarecrow-making, den-building and lots more fun outdoor activities this weekend?
Sandwell
Valley Country Park is hosting the Mr
Bloom's Nursery: Get Set, Grow Tour this Saturday and Sunday
(July 28-29) from 10am-5pm. Admission is free.
Mr Bloom is a favourite CBeebies character and the fun things to do are aimed at helping children learn about their living environment, how food is grown and the wonders of nature.
The activities, aimed at families with children aged six and under, throughout both days include:
- Den building, decorating tree cookies, rope swings, making scarecrows, leaf and bark printing with Forest Schools.
- Bat crafts and information, including making bat masks.
- Crafts, pond-dipping and wildlife walks with the RSPB.
- Making plant pots from newspapers and planting herb plugs.
There will also be storytelling on the mobile library bus, a miniature gym, messy play activities, Olympic-themed games and carnivorous plants to study.
The Eco Bus will be there, where children and adults can make nature windows from leaves, twigs and flowers, and there's also the chance to find out how to make a wormery.
Both days include performances from Mr Bloom and the Veggies on a live stage. Tickets for the live shows were issued in a random draw earlier this month, but families without tickets can still go along and enjoy the activities on both days.
Sandwell Valley Country Park is off Salter's Lane, West Bromwich, B71 4BG.
Please note: Tickets for the live shows have now been given out. Some spaces may be available on the day if people with tickets do not turn up. Please see organisers and ask to stand in a "standby queue".
Are you going to see Mr Bloom this weekend? We want to see your photos! Please share them on our Sandwell Facebook page.
