Alternative Olympics for Sandwell young people

Young people in Sandwell can enjoy a free Olympic-themed afternoon of fun activities from electronic games to riding a rodeo bull.
The borough's Shadow Youth Cabinet is holding its Alternative Olympics for 11-19 year olds on Friday 3 August from 2pm to 6pm at Coneygre Centre, Sedgley Road East, Tipton.
Activities include electronic games on large screen, pool games, large floor games, climbing wall, canoeing, rodeo bull and competitive sports games, music and dancing.
Councillor Linda Horton, Sandwell Council's cabinet member for leisure services, said: "It's great to hear our Youth Cabinet taking a lead on celebrating the Olympics and providing fun and constructive activities for young people to do during the summer holidays."
Wasim Ali, chair of Sandwell's Shadow Youth Cabinet. said: "We hope that many young people from across Sandwell will join us at our alternative Olympics event, which promises to be fun and different, while capturing the excitement and encapsulating the Olympic values of friendship, respect and excellence."
