Information Point has care and community contacts

People in Sandwell have a brand new way to find help and information they need.

The council has launched a directory featuring details of more than 900 local care and community organisations.

Information Point is an online database which will make it easier for residents to reach a range of organisations from the private, public, community and voluntary sectors.

It will help put residents in touch with services they need - from arranging social care support for adults to finding new a community group to join.

It is the first time information on such a wide range of community and care services has been made available on a single, up-to-date database.

Councillor Ann Jaron, Sandwell's cabinet member for adult social care, said it was an excellent resource for families and individuals of all ages who relied on the support of community and care organisations.

She said: "It is a handy way to find services that can help people be more active, find a new hobby, join a lunch club, find a support group, cope with a long term condition or get extra help in the home."

The directory is part of the Sandwell Council website.

Users can search it in a number of ways, including:

  • selecting different categories
  • an A-Z list
  • an advanced search option for keywords such as a town, postcode or the support required

People without a computer can visit their local Sandwell library to use Information Point.
