Sandwell Council

Unitary development plan

The Sandwell Unitary Development Plan (UDP) is a plan which guides how land should be used. It seeks to ensure that there are jobs, homes, shops, parks and other important facilities, available to everyone, while at the same time protecting and improving the environment. The UDP will also make a valuable contribution to improving the safety and security of the area and assist with the reduction of crime and disorder within the Borough.

The Black Country Core Strategy was adopted on 3rd February 2011, the Smethwick and Tipton Area Action Plans and the remaining policies and proposals of the Unitary Developement Plan form the Development Plan for the Borough.

This version of the UDP should be read in conjunction with the Core Strategy.  The Core Strategy can be viewed at http://blackcountrycorestrategy.dudley.gov.uk/
