New leisure pool and fitness centre

Sandwell Council plans to build an £11 million swimming pool in West Bromwich town centre on land at the corner of Moor Street and Barton Street. The planning application should be submitted by summer 2012, with building work starting early in 2013. 

By autumn 2012 we are due to appoint a development partner who will design, build, operate and maintain the new centre.  

It is hoped the complex will open in summer 2014 and provide:

• a much wanted 25-metre, six-lane swimming pool and learner pool
• a four-court sports hall and a 100-station gym
• refreshment area.
