Lost and Stray Dogs

Sandwell employs a dog warden to collect any lost dogs.

All dogs are taken to City Dogs, who can be contacted for information regarding a lost dog as follows:
City Dogs
186 Brookhouse Lane
Stoke on Trent
ST2 8ND

Telephone: 01782 304130

During Office hours Monday to Friday, contact the council's Contact Centre on 0845 359 7501.

Outside office hours, to have a stray dog collected, call 0121 525 4688 (Emergency Call Out).

We will call and remove stray dogs on the highway or if they have wandered onto private property, gardens, factories etc.

We will not deal with dangerous dogs. In this case you will need to contact your local police station. The main telephone number for all Sandwell Police Stations is 0845 113 5000.

Fees

Before your dog can be released, please note that kennelling and release fees will apply.

Dogs are kennelled at the dogs home for 7 days.

If dogs are not collected by their owners they are offered for sale after the 7 day period.

Neutering and Spaying

The Dog Warden service also operates a system of financial help towards the cost of Neutering and Spaying operations, for dogs only. Up to 50% discount is available which is means tested.

For details of the scheme contact the Dog Warden on 0845 359 7501.
