Knit and Natter presents Father Christmas at Hill Top Library

in partnership with Friends of Wednesbury Library



December 2019

Hill Top Knit and Natter Group will be hosting a Santa’s grotto at Hill Top Library on the 21st December 2019 between 11 a.m and 1 p.m.

Local children will be able to visit Santa at Hill Top Library and will receive a small gift. Light refreshments will also be provided by the Knit and Natter group.

The group were awarded £182.30


Wednesbury Fellowship of the Disabled Members Christmas Meal



December 2019

Wednesbury Fellowship of the Disabled held a Christmas meal for members, their family, carers and friends at the Masonic Building in Wednesbury on the 10th December 2019 between 12:30 p.m and 16:00 p.m.

The Town Grants funding contributed funding towards a Christmas meal. Wednesbury Fellowship of the Disabled supports elderly people and this organisation will help to reduce isolation for many members of the group over Christmas.

The group were awarded £594.00

Wednesbury 2000 Christmas meal

in partnership with The Centre For Oneness Wednesbury

December 2019

A Christmas meal was held for members of the community by Wednesbury 2000 LTD in partnership with The Centre for Oneness on the 7th December 2019 between 12:00 p.m and 15:30 p.m.

The vegetarian Christmas meal was held at the Centre for Oneness in Wednesbury and was open to elderly members of the community and was also attended by residents from local care homes.

The group were awarded £1,612.53



Crankhall Lane Christmas Lights Event 2019

Organised by Open Heaven Church Wednesbury



November 2019

The Crankhall Lane Christmas event in Wednesbury will be held on 15th November 2019 between 4pm - 7:30pm.

The Christmas lights will be switched on at 5pm.

A range of entertainment and activities are organised including Santa's Grotto, crafts for children, live performances by local schools, Frozen and superhero appearances (including a superhero training school stage performance by Spider Man).

There will also be Christmas sing-a-longs, a superhero dance competition for children, mini bumper cars, craft/ market stalls and refreshments (available in Open Heaven Church Wednesbury).

The group were awarded £3,909.35



Union Street Christmas Lights Event 2019

Organised by Open Heaven Church Wednesbury



November 2019

The Union Street Christmas Lights events in Wednesbury will be held on 22nd November 2019 between 4pm -7.30pm

The Christmas lights will be switched on at 6pm

A range of entertainment and activities are organised including fair rides, Santa's Grotto, live performances from local schools and local entertainers. There will also be a Christmas market with a mix of local crafters and market traders.

The group were awarded £5,090.65.


Drumming Together in Wednesbury

Beat It Percussion at Wednesbury LibrarySeptember 2019

On 2nd October 2019 Beat It Percussion will start holding a music making sessions at Wednesbury Library between 10.30am and 12noon for people experiencing memory loss or living with dementia.

Weekly sessions will then be held for 12 months to promote inclusion and improve wellbeing of participants by increasing confidence and wellbeing.

The project will also support carers and encourage them to continue the vital role they play.

The group were awarded £3,941.60

Just Play Wednesbury

Councillors join the Just Play Wednesbury project

September 2019

Just Play Wednesbury will be run by Creative Academies Limited in partnership with Groundworks at Brunswick Park in Wednesbury.

Sessions will be held on Wednesdays at 4:30 pm till 6:30 pm and Fridays at 4:30pm till 6:30pm.

Children aged 6 – 12 will be encouraged to participate in a programme of activities to increase physical activity, develop aspirations, improve confidence through building positive relationships and reducing social isolation.  

Sandwell Youth Service will also be providing detached youth work for young people aged 12 and above in Brunswick Park and the surrounding area.

The sessions will aim to create a holistic and safe environment for young people and deliver a programme of activities that will encourage young people to develop their skills and create positive pathways. 

The group were awarded £4,862.64.


A journey Through Colour

Between April 2019 and July 2019 Sandwell Museum and Arts Services hosted an exhibition called “Journey Through Colour: Ranbir Kaur” at Wednesbury Museum and Art Gallery.

Educational workshops were held with local schools, art groups and cultural groups to allow them to experience their own journey through colour by creating artwork inspired by the exhibition and Ranbir’s life story.

The group were awarded £1,750.

The Aman Group

Aman Group/ Breakthru CIC

March 2019

Breakthru CIC are holding weekly sessions for the next 12 months at Wednesbury Library for South Asian Women between the ages of 40-90. The group sessions will complete gentle exercises, singing, celebrations and receive health information and visits from various organisations. These activities will help prevent isolation and support health and wellbeing of participants. The sessions will be held in the Community room at Wednesbury Library.

The group were awarded £4,800 in total.
