Key Data

This page will contain key data relating to special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Sandwell. It will develop and expand over time to include data around assessments for Education Health and Care Plans, the attainment of children and young people with SEND as well as data relating to attendance and exclusions .

Numbers of children and young people in Sandwell with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

As of January 2019 there were 60538 children attending schools (including Pupil Referral Units and Independent Schools) in Sandwell. Of these 7261 have SEND but do not have an Education, Health and Care Plan or Statement of Special Educational Need. A further 1675 children have either a statement of special educational needs or an Education, Health and Care Plan. This represents 2.8% of the school population which is 0.3% below the national average.
