30 hours free childcare / early education for 3 and 4 year olds - extended entitlement
At present, all 3 and 4 year olds in England can get 15 hours of free childcare / early education a week over 38 weeks of the year (or fewer hours over more weeks).
From September 2017 this doubled to 30 hours a week, for up to 38 weeks (1,140 hours a year), for 3 and 4 year olds whose parents are working. The aim is to help families by reducing the costs of childcare, to support parents to increase the number of hours they work and/or encourage them into employment.
However, this increase is only available to families who meet a certain criteria.
