Consultation on the Black Country Core Strategy Review - Issues and Options
The consultation on the Issues and Options is now closed and representations are currently under consideration. The consultation started on Monday 3 July 2017 and ran for a ten week period to 5pm Friday 8 September 2017.
Issues and Options Consultation
The four Black Country Authorities launched a ten week consultation on the first stage of the formal review of the Black Country Core Strategy. The Core Strategy is a key part of the Local Plan for the Black Country Authorities forming the overarching planning and regeneration document for the whole of the area. This initial consultation is about identifying the issues that the review will need to address and the broad options for how the sustainable growth of the Black Country can be achieved.
The current strategy was adopted by the four councils in 2011. It has shaped the housing, industrial and retail growth of our region, whilst protecting the environment and greenbelt. It has also been successful in supporting regeneration for the past six years. The strategy now needs to be reviewed to meet the new challenges and opportunities for the coming years, up to 2036. We are launching this consultation to make sure that everyone across the Black Country has the opportunity to have their say on the plans for our area.
Call for Sites
A "Call for Sites" process is running in parallel with the Issues and Options consultation and is focused on identifying sites to accommodate housing and employment land needs. A"Call for Sites" form is available on the Black Country Core Strategy website (please note this is an external website and by using this link you will leave the Council's website). All sites that are submitted during the consultation period will be considered as part of the evidence work for the later stages in the preparation of the plan.
