National Volunteers Week 1st - 7th June

Every year the first week of June is devoted to a national celebration of volunteering. The local celebrations were led by the Volunteer Centre Sandwell.

The week got off to a flying start at West Bromwich Town Hall with the Centre's annual volunteer awards. These celebrated the achievements of hard working volunteers within many different organisations across the borough. A total of 82 volunteers from 16 different organisations received awards.

This was followed by a successful volunteer recruitment event in partnership with the Library Service at Blackheath Library. The event promoted the benefits of volunteering and encouraged volunteers to support their local libraries.

The celebrations ended with a fun filled Volunteer Quiz at West Bromwich Town Hall. Teams of volunteers competed for the title of the smartest team in Sandwell, with Healthwatch Sandwell taking the honours.
