Council offices and contact centres are closed on Saturday 27 May and Monday 29 May. Your bins will be collected as normal on Bank Holiday Monday. Libraries are closed on Monday 29 May only.

General election 2017

There will be a general election on Thursday 8 June 2017.

In Sandwell we have four parliamentary constituencies - Warley, West Bromwich East, West Bromwich West and Halesowen and Rowley Regis (part of this constituency is in Dudley).

Register to vote

You do NOT need to re-register to vote in this election. If you received a poll card for the West Midlands Combined Authority Mayoral election in May, you are registered and you will be able to be vote.

However, if you are a European registered elector (so if you are Polish, Italian or Spanish for example) you are not entitled to vote and you will not be sent a poll card.

Key dates

  • Polling cards will be delivered to all electors between Monday 8 May and Tuesday 16 May.
  • The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Monday 22 May.
  • The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 23 May.
  • Most postal votes will be sent out on Tuesday 23 May. If you apply for a postal vote after 4 May, your postal vote will not be sent until 30 May.
  • The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Tuesday Wednesday 31 May.
