Political makeup of the council

Sandwell is divided into 24 wards and is represented by 72 ward councillors. Currently there are:

• 67 Labour councillors
• 2 Conservative councillors
• 1 Sandwell Traditional Independent Party councillor
• 1 Independent Rate Payer councillor
• 1 Independent Socialist councillor
