Political makeup of the council
Sandwell is divided into 24 wards and is represented by 72 ward councillors. Currently there are:
- 67 Labour councillors
- 2 Conservative councillors
- 1 Sandwell Traditional Independent Party councillor
- 1 Independent Rate Payer councillor
- 1 Independent Socialist councillor
