New look for Queen's Square

New entrance to Queens Square

After planning permission to modernise Queen's Square Shopping Centre was granted in 2012, Sandwell Council signed a works agreement and new long term lease for the centre. Fairacre, acting on behalf of Queens Square's owners, completed the refurbishment of the malls and toilets, and a new entrance from the High Street was been created. This work completed during autumn 2014, and further improvements are now underway to refit the shop units and to create a food quarter.

Nearly £7 million, including a £3 million contribution by Sandwell Council, has been invested to improve the shopping centre which complements the new mall connection to the New Square shopping centre, as well as the revamped pedestrian High Street, with new paving, seating, lighting and landscaping.

The Queen's Square refurbishment has:

•    improved links between all town centre retail areas for shoppers
•    gives visitors better access to public transport
•    enhanced the look of the centre's entrance, the mall and shop fronts.
