Greets Green - Goldfield Court - extra care housing scheme
An attractive and modern extra care housing scheme for older people has been built in the existing neighbourhood of Greets Green, a short walk from West Bromwich town centre. Goldfield Court provides greater choice of housing and meeting local housing needs.
The £12.5 million extra care housing scheme in Dartmouth Street has 93 self-contained apartments for older people, including rented and shared ownership properties. Community facilities include a restaurant and hair and beauty salon.
The scheme provides residents with a safe and secure environment in which to live an independent lifestyle in a community setting with staff on site 24 hours a day to provide care and support, tailored to meet individual needs. Councillor Darren Cooper was joined by project partners to place the final tile on the roof in October 2011. Pupils from Guns Village Primary School, Councillor Simon Hackett and Councillor Ann Jaron unveiled the show apartment in January 2012.
The building work was completed 31 March 2012, and residents began to move in during summer 2012. The partners involved in delivering this project are Sandwell Council, the Homes & Communities Agency, Housing 21 and Thomas Vale Construction.
Goldfield Court will:
- provide quality housing
- improve housing choice for West Bromwich
- attract new residents to the town.
