Voluntary Sector Infrastructure

By contributing to investment in third sector infrastructure support services Sandwell Council supports the continued development of a vibrant, independent and healthy third sector.

The Council provides funding to the following local infrastructure organisations that offer a range of support to voluntary and community organisations in Sandwell:

Sandwell Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO)

Sandwell Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) is an independent charity established in 1997 to provide representation and support to the local voluntary and community sector.

Based in Sandwell and focused on Sandwell, it offers a wide spectrum of specialised services and aims to support all not-for-profit community groups and voluntary organisations, however big or small.

Volunteer Centre Sandwell

Volunteer Centre Sandwell has been supporting volunteers and volunteering in Sandwell for over twenty years.During this time they have developed a wide range of services including: finding suitable placements for volunteers, supporting placement organisations in both the voluntary and statutory sectors and running specialised projects which support volunteers with specific needs. The Volunteer Centre Sandwell is a member of Volunteering England which helps them to keep pace with national trends and changes in the way volunteering is shaped and happens.

Sandwell Community Information and Participation Service (SCIPS)

SCIPS is a non-political, independent, charitable organisation led by Sandwell residents.

They offer facilities, skills and expertise to provide a range of high quality services, and a link for all communities to consult on local, regional and national, Housing and Regeneration issues.

SCIPS exists to enable an effective exchange of views and opinions, enabling communities to influence and affect change.

Community Help and Information Network Sandwell (CHAINS)

CHAINS has been set up by SCIPS and Wednesbury 2000 as a free resource to promote and support Sandwell's community sector. The website includes an eevents calender, a directiry of community groups and a funding database.
